This medicine belongs to a group of medicines called antibiotics, and is used to treat various bacterial infections such as pharyngitis/tonsillitis (throat infections), otitis media (ear infections), sinusitis (infection of the sinuses), community acquired pneumonia, gonorrhea (sexually transmitted disease), anorectal infections in women, skin, and, unrinary tract infections. Bacterial infections are caused due to the multiplication of harmful bacteria inside or on the body. The medicine works by preventing the formation of bacterial cell covering, which is necessary for their survival, thereby, killing the bacteria. Cluvanaic Acid works by decreasing bacterial resistance and enhancing the activity of Cefpodoxime against the bacteria. Together, Cefpodoxime and Cluvanaic Acid helps treat bacterial infections. The doctor needs to be informed before you consume the medication in case of pregnancy or if you are planning of pregnancy. This medicine should be avoided during breastfeeding as it may pass into the breast milk.

Medicinal benefits: It is a beta-lactamese inhibitor that is combined with certain penicillin antibiotics to overcome antibiotic resistance. This medicine must be taken as prescribed by the doctor.  This medicine is used to treat many different types of infections such as those of the brain (meningitis), lungs (pneumonia), ear, abdomen, urinary tract, bones, joints, skin, blood, and, heart. Instructions for use: Swallow it as a whole and do not chew, crush, or, break it. It can be taken at a fixed time and may be taken with or without food but at a fixed time. Do not consume more than the recommended dose since it may be harmful for the body and, if you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, however, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular routine without doubling the dose.  Avoid drinking alcohol with this medicine as it may cause excessive drowsiness. The medication does not impair your ability to drive, but you must avoid driving if it makes you feel drowsy or sleepy. Take adequate rest for a faster recovery and maintain a healthy diet while consuming plenty of water. You may also ask your doctor for a few laboratory and diagnostic tests to know the effects of the medicine on your body. Candox CL should be used with caution in patients with kidney and liver disease.

Side Effects: Some common side-effects of this medicine are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, indigestion, etc. If any of these side-effects are aggravated, you must consult your doctor immediately.
